What is Shelter bay?

Shelter bay is a new program that was created to raise funds for York County Shelter Programs.  Like ebay it will post photos of items that are for sale.  People interested in purchasing items will contact Mary Doyle at the Shelter  ( email: mqdoyle@gmail.com).  The first person to offer the asking price by email for the item will be able to purchase the item.

How does it work?

People often have items that they wish to donate.  Sometimes these items can

not be directly used by the Shelter but profits from the sale of these specific items

could prove very beneficial to raising funds for  programs at the Shelter.

Who can participate?

Anyone who wishes to support the work of the York County Shelter Programs can

either donate items or purchase items listed on the Shelter bay web pages found on

this website.

How does one donate the items?

People interested in donating items should contact Mary Doyle by email at:  mqdoyle@gmail.com

Since storage space at the Shelter is extremely limited, donors are asked to

keep larger items at their residence until they are sold.  Smaller items can be

dropped off at the Shelter labeled “Shelter bay - Mary Doyle.”  Donors are asked

to check with Mary Doyle beforehand about whether a possible donation would be

suitable for posting on the Shelter website.   Receipts of proof of your donations for

tax purposes will gladly be provided.

What kind of items can be donated?

This is a new program and all types of items in good working order (vehicles, tools, equipment, boats, jewelry, antiques) will be accepted for display on Shelter bay.

Please remember that only items that are very small in size will actually be able to be

accepted at the Shelter.   Larger items will have to remain at their present location and a photo of the item will be taken to display on the Shelter bay web pages.  (The donations of alcohol and firearms, although appreciated, will not be posted on Shelter bay).

How does one purchase items pictured on Shelter Bay?

Each item listed on Shelter bay will have a suggested price.  If someone wishes to

purchase the item they should contact Mary Doyle  by email at:

                                                    mqdoyle@gmail.com

Payment for the item must be made by cash, check, or money order made out to

          Shelter Bay Program

             For Our Children

Proceeds from our Shelter bay Program will benefit

the many children who live at our Shelter and in our housing programs throughout York County.  People are often surprised to learn that there are many homeless children in York County who are helped by York County Shelter Programs.  Last year we helped

over three hundred homeless children.  We assist children who live at our Shelter to help them continue with their education and their many needs - food, clothing, medical and dental care, counseling, etc.

Our ultimate goal is to be able to help arrange a stable and independent housing situation for the children and their families. We are hoping that the sale of the items from the Shelter bay Program For Our Children will enable us to purchase items and provide recreational opportunities that will make the lives of the many children more enjoyable.
