at the Line School to pick ten bushels

of apples which the children donated to the Food Services Program at

York County Shelter Programs.

Tiernan Connor, a third-grade student at Kennebunk Elementary School, organized a clothing drive at her school.  She collected and delivered blankets, coats, hats, and even summertime dresses and shorts. She is pictured

above in the center of the photo.  The Shelter’s

Facilities Manager, Steve Mazza, is pictured

on the left in the photo.  Joan Sylvester, the Shelter’s Community Relations Director, is pictured on the right.  Thanks are extended to

Tiernan and all the individuals who contributed

to the clothing drive.

A special thanks is extended to Roger Hansen and Diane Denk and the Kennebunk and Kennebunkport Democratic Town Committees for their incredibly generous support of a $3,500 sponsorship for the Shelter’s 5k/Walk-A-Thon on May 21, 2011.

Eight-year-old Jacob Favolise (on right) is pictured with his three-year-old sister, Gabriella, and all the food that they donated to the Food Pantry at the Shelter. Jacob is a second-grader at the Margaret Chase Smith School in Sanford and the son of Mark and Annette Favolise.  Jacob thought it would be great to give to people who were not as fortunate as himself.  For his birthday he asked guests to donate money towards the Food Pantry, rather than bring a present.  His family went to the supermarket, purchased many healthy non-perishables and filled their car with food donations

for the York County Shelter Program’s Food Pantry. He also contributed some money from his bank account for food. Thank you Jacob and the Favolise family for your incredible generosity!

Special thanks to High Pine Baptist Church in Wells for

their generous donation of sweatshirts and smocks and

shampoo.

Hats off to Alfred Brownie Troop 963 under the leadership of Kristie Hurlburt.  This past spring they noticed that there was a request for spring-like mugs for Shaker Hill Kitchens.  As a community service project for the Shelter

Shelter.
