The York County Shelter Programs offers a variety of services and has the ability to meet a multitude of needs. Currently, YCSPI is licensed by the DHHS Division of Licensing and Regulatory Services and holds both a substance abuse and a mental health residential license at our facility in Alfred, Maine.
YCSPI has attempted to meet the needs of its clients by offering a variety of services, a sage environment, and a qualified, diverse, and compassionate staff. The staff at YCSPI includes L.A.D.C.’s, A.D.C.A.’s, L.M.S.W., L.S.W.’s, C.A.D.C., L.C.S.W., and M.H.R.T.’s The two shelters run by YCSPI are staffed 24 hours a day and also include emergency on-call personnel.
An individual’s placement within the structure of YCSPI greatly depends on their statement of needs at the time. Through the intensive case management services offered, YCSPI can meet many of the needs on site. Examples of some of the services offered include substance abuse counseling, medical physicals, nutritional assessments, mental health case management, independent living skills, medication and safety monitoring, community resourcing, assistance in locating affordable housing, attaining furniture/housewares, and vocational training. Other services that can be accessed relatively easily include mental health assessment, psychiatric services, and supportive counseling. YCSPI also works closely with Adult Education and can link a client to GED or diploma tutoring and testing.
The staff at YCSPU runs in-house groups that address substance abuse and dependence, independent living skills, anger management, stress reduction, dual diagnosis issues, and many others based on the population at the time.
