Immediate Needs
- The dining commons is in need of toasters for the breakfast meal.

-The donation of twin beds (mattresses, box springs, and frames) is needed for the Family Centers. Please call Joan or Mary at 324-1137.
-The residents of Vinton Hall would appreciate the donation
- of fishing poles! Please call Mary at 324-8941.
-The donation of energy-efficient CFL (compact florescent
lightbulbs) would be appreciated.
-The donation of large plastic containers and plastic
garbage cans would be appreciated for the recycling program
at the Shelter.
-The York County Shelter Programs is in need of individuals
willing to be called upon on occasion to help pick up donated
items to be brought to the Shelter. Individuals who have a pick-up truck that they can use for this purpose are particularly
needed. There will be volunteers who will be available to help
with the moving of larger items if needed. This is a very
flexible volunteer opportunity. If you sign up to join this
“Donation Pick-Up Corps of Volunteers” it will be understood
that you will help out occasionally when it is possible.

-The York County Shelter Programs is looking for the donation
of all kinds of thread since residents at the Family Shelter wish
to sew. They are also in need of bobbins for a Singer sewing machine (1940’s-1950’s era). In addition, they are in need of
kitchen hand towels and dish cloths. Please call Anita at
324-1137.
-The York County Shelter Programs is looking for the donation
of an electric golf cart that fits 4-6 people. It will be used to
transport clients who are in need of assistance over from the
Shelter to the Dining Commons. It will also be used in assisting
with the transportation of materials for the recycling program.
-The donation of egg cartons that hold a dozen eggs is needed for the Bakery at Notre Dame. Please call Martha - 324-8811.
-The donation of carbon monoxide detectors would be
appreciated. Please call Joan or Mary at 324-1137.
-The donation of bureaus is needed for the Family Center.

-There is always a need for personal care products such as shampoo, toothpaste, men’s and women’s deoderants, tooth brushes, soap, conditioners, razor blades, women’s hygiene products.
-Flip-flops (adult sizes) are needed.
-Travel coffee mugs are needed.
-The donation of new sweatshirts and sweatpants (especially large and extra large sizes) is always needed.
-Hospital scrubs (outfits) are needed.
-We are looking for volunteers to distribute free copies of the
Shelter newspaper (“Heading Home”) in their communities at their local library, town office, general store, places of work,
places of worship, community organizations, etc. Thanks!
Areas of York County that especially could appreciate some
distribution include Oqunquit, Eliot, York, Kittery. If you
would be willing to pick up a few bundles of the newspaper
at your convenience and drop them off, it would be so helpful
in spreading the word of our work. The newspaper is
published four times a year so the amount of time necessary
for this volunteer activity is quite manageable, plus it can
be accomplished at the convenience of your own schedule.

-Jennifer Ouellette, York County Shelter Programs’ Clinical
Director, wishes to purchase some educational videos from
Hazeldon for client education purposes. On the average they
are between $100 to $150 a piece. If anyone is interested in
donating towards the purchase of a video, please contact Jen
at 207-324-1137.
-A volunteer is needed to pick up the fresh bread from the Bakery at Notre Dame in Alfred early in the morning (6:30 a.m. or before) on Fridays and drive it to Shaker Hill Kitchens in Saco. Please call Martha at 324-8811.
-Residents help in the Bakery and Food Pantry and they spend
time loading the vehicles and transporting items in the cold
outdoors. Many are in need of adult-size gloves and mittens.
Please contact Martha at 324-8811 or drop them off at the
Bakery. Winter hats and scarves would also be appreciated.
- The Bakery is is need of cloth ribbon in holiday colors to tie the cellophane bags for cookies and baked goods.
-The donation of gift cards to department stores

- Russell in the Maintenance Department is looking for the donation of a 24 volt cordless hammer drill.
