“Heading Home” is the quarterly newspaper of the York County Shelter Programs. It encourages the contributions of positive stories, letters, articles,
photographs, poems, and drawings, etc.
Submission of items to “Heading Home” originates from various people - readers, residents, staff, and volunteers. Some of the primary goals of the publication are to educate people about
homelessness and poverty and to foster
a sense of community within the York County Shelter Programs.
Each issue of “Heading Home” often includes
a story about a volunteer, a staff person, a resident,
a wish list, a review of a book dealing with
homelessness, some poetry, art work, and many photographs. Educational articles that deal with issues of poverty and homelessness are always welcome.
To contribute to the “Heading Home” newspaper
or to be placed on the mailing list for “Heading Home” please contact Mary Doyle at York County

We are looking for volunteers to distribute free copies of “Heading Home” in their communities at their local library, town office, general store, churches, places of work, community organizations, etc. Thanks!

Those in attendance at the Alfred Chapter of the Homeless Voices for Justice barbecue enjoy looking at pictures of the Alfred Chapter of the Homeless Voices for Justice’s trip to Augusta in the March 2007 issue of the “Heading Home” newspaper.
It’s amazing to see where “Heading Home” is being read
these days! Two German visitors picked up their copy at a hostel in Ireland!
