Donations To York County Shelter Programs Matched By The Feinstein Foundation

For the past thirteen years, Alan Shawn Feinstein has been giving away one million dollars each year to anti-hunger agencies throughout the country.  This year he is doing it again!  Whatever anyone donates to the York County Shelter Programs from March 1, 2010, through April 30, 2010, Mr. Feinstein will add money to it.  He said, "The more you give, the more of my one million, they'll get - thanks to you! "  The money from The Feinstein Foundation is divided proportionately among the agencies receiving donations toward his offer.

Allan Shawn Feinstein explained that he felt that each person was put on the earth to do what they can to help those in need. He discussed how this work has become the greatest grass roots campaign ever to fight hunger in this country.

He said, "Your donation makes it a partner in it with me." For more information about his challenge check:     www.feinsteinfoundation.org

Donations to the York County Shelter Programs for The Feinstein Foundation Challenge in March and April can include cash, checks, and food items (valued at $1.00 per item or pound), as well as pledges, as long as they were obtained only from use of our challenge.

During March and April, your purchases from

the Bakery at Notre Dame in Alfred and Shaker Hill Kitchens in Saco, your monetary or food goods donation to York County Shelter Programs will help the fight against hunger.

    Schools, businesses, clubs, and community

organizations are encouraged to consider

running a food drive during March and April for the York County Shelter Programs so that matching funds will be donated by The Feinstein Foundation.

The matching funds generated through the

Feinstein Foundation will help support the YCSPI

feeding programs, including the Free Meals Kitchens in Sanford and Springvale and the YCSPI Food Pantry located at the Barn.  The

Food Pantry serves people in need from any town.  We have seen a marked increase in the

use of the Food Pantry and expect the trend

to continue.  There is a GREAT NEED!

The York County Shelter Programs is

extremely appreciative of the work and generosity

of the Feinstein Foundation.
