Awards and Accolades

-The York County Shelter Programs was selected as one of the six Model Shelter Programs by the United States Department of  Housing and Urban Development (HUD) and the Housing Assistance Counsel (HAC).


-The York County Shelter Programs was a participant in the inaugural conference on Social Entrepreneurship sponsored by HUD and Price Waterhouse.  The first program in the United States  to receive a McKinney Grant for Transitional Housing.


-Licensed by the Maine Office of the Department of Health and Human Services


-One of sixteen exemplary Substance Abuse Programs for the Homeless by the National Institute for Addiction and Alcohol Abuse (NIAAA)


-Selected from over 600 applicants for McKinney funding of our Jobs Training Demonstration Project  (VIVA - Values in Vocational Achievement)


-One of five programs selected for the U.S. Department of Agriculture Food and Nutrition Service Department Project


-One of thirty-six programs nationally featured by the National Poverty Law Center’s “Smart Programs, Foolish Cuts.”


-Designated in 1994 by the Maine State Housing Authority as a Community Housing Development Organization (CHDO).


-Received Special Recognition for excellent services at the 1999 Governor’s Affordable Housing Conference


York County Shelter Programs, Inc.  was recognized for their consistent quality performance over time in co-occurring integration 2005-2010  COSII (Co-occurring State Integration Initiative)

 

A certificate was  awarded by the Maine Co-Occurring State  Integration Initiative in June 2010 to York County Shelter Programs, Inc. in recognition of their dedicated work and success as champions for co-occurring services in the State of Maine.

 

Recognition from the Air National Guard is posted in the Dining Commons at York County Shelter Programs.  It was given to Clinical Director Jen Ouellette  and to YCSPi as a dedicated/supportive employer of Anita Manupelli.
